Today on The CGP: Last week President Obama proposed “a new rating system that would reward universities that provide better value for students’ tuition dollars.” This rating system would be carried out by the Department of Education. Lots of thoughts on this one. Also, a bit more in the higher education realm: Senator Hoeven said on my program that he was very satisfied with the law passed by Congress that will regulate interest rates for federal student loans. It’ll be a big break for families, as many in Washington have also stated. However, the nonpartisan CBO (Congressional Budget Office) has a view of this that’s *slightly different.
